Hoffmann, Zak & Associates traces its roots to the formation of Hoffmann Management Company in Anchorage in 1977 as a full service management organization specializing in multi-family property management . The company continued to expand its residential portfolio until merging in 1984 with a prominent local commercial management organization. The merged organization was incorporated as Hoffmann Commercial, Inc.

In 1994 Hoffmann Commercial acquired all of the stock of Pioneer Management Services, Inc., Alaska's largest community association management organization, whose operations were fully merged with Hoffmann Commercial, Inc.

In the fall of 2004 the assets and accounts of Hoffmann Commercial where purchased by Christine Hoffmann, and reorganized as AREC, LLC an Alaska Limited Liability Company, in order to provide greater opportunities for participation in the ownership and management of the organization for senior staff members and managers. AREC, LLC operates under the name of Hoffmann, Zak, & Associates, F. David Haase, Broker.
